Mandy Random

Did you know that if you eat bananas, mosquitoes will find you more attractive?

Also, did you know that dandelion seeds can float through the air in such vast numbers, it looks like it's snowing?

Interesting, no?

I think so.

It rained last night. Hugely fat tears from the sky, lit by pink lightning bolts. I stood outside in it, in my sideyard, because I stayed awake too late and had nothing better to do. It rained and rained and rained. And the air was electric with pink lights. Awesome.

Sometimes, you will play lonely games too, games you can't win because you'll play against you.

I am convinced that Dr.Suess is smarter than Albert Einstein or any of those dudes in the Mensa Society. Smarter, more thoughtful, and more apt to give good advice. Plus, he's so much easier to relate to than your average "genius".

It continues to amaze me where my mind goes. And even more so, which, of all my thoughts, I allow to come outside my head and out of my mouth or through my typing fingers.

Randomly, I no longer find Bam Margera attractive. For the first two Jackass films, he was the "hot" guy. Because he has sexy tattoos, pretty eyes, and a fantastic ass. Now I just find him disgusting, since, in the third one, he sticks a cigarette into his mouth that had been in a place I can't bring myself to say. Also, he now has a beard. Fail!

Did you know, that all the while I typed about Bam, I was really thinking about something else entirely? It's true. I have mad skills like that.

Did you know that pink roses turn purple when they die?

And fyi...there is no such thing as a zebracorn because unicorns are not real and therefore cannot mate with zebras to create such a hybrid creature. Just sayin.

Anyway. I was in Plum Coulee on Thursday. Population 800.
Also anyway, I'm going home in six minutes. Not that anybody cares about that.

The Tania Marsden Murder

On Wednesday, September 9th, 1998, Tania Marsden went out on the town to celebrate her 18th birthday. She was with friends at the Gordon Downtowner Motor Hotel, on Kennedy Street in Winnipeg, and it was there that she was last seen alive, in the downtown area of Ellice and Portage.

On September 29th, three weeks after her disappearance, Tania was found in the Assiniboine River on the west side of Perimeter Highway, between Charleswood and St.James, weighted down with a cement block. She had been strangled by ligature around the time she had last been seen.

As Tania worked, and was last seen in the downtown area, based on the location of her body near the West Perimeter Bridge, there is a possibility that the suspect knows, works or frequents this area. As this area is not visible because of the bridge and is only accessible by a gravel road that runs parallel to and then underneath the highway, it may not be that well known to people outside the St James/Charleswood area.

Body Count

I have always had an interest in all things evil. I'm an avid horror film watcher & adore scary stories. I've read the Satanic Bible and devour articles on serial killers, mass murderers, and everything abhorrent. For most of my life, I've endured nightmares I can never seem to shake, and 22 years ago, I had the misfortune of running into a real life monster...the repercussions of which haunt me to this day, and might for the rest of my life.

But I survived. A lot of people don't, and that's always been a difficult thing for me in some ways.

I knew when I moved to the Midwest, to a larger, faster city, that I would see and hear things I wouldn't back East. But the number of missing and butchered women in Manitoba is astounding to me.

Winnipeg "boasts" the title of Canada's Murder Capital, and for good reason. The sheer numbers are frightening and unimaginable. In May 2011 alone, five people were murdered in five separate incidents. Between January 1st and May 24th, fifteen people became homicide victims. Fifteen. That's three murders per month, with fifteen different killers roaming around the city. Think about that a moment. Reflect that, roll it round in your mind. Fifteen killers. Fifteen victims. Five months. In a city with under a million people living in it.

And to top that, it is believed by the masses that Winnipeg is home to a serial killer little different from American killers like Ted Bundy and Gary "The Green River Killer" Ridgeway. Having looked into this a little bit, I feel the masses might be right.

But even if they aren't, the number of dead and dying and vanished women is grotesque.

Friday 10 June 2011

This Morning, I Saw...

A pirate.

I shit you not. A pirate, dressed in his pirate duds, sitting at the bus stop on Portage Avenue, waiting patiently for his ride to come along. How cool is that, to be so uncaring as to what people think of you, that you can sit in the bus shelter in your pirate hat, eyepatch, and green flouncy knickers.

Much cooler, the pirate, than the Satanic looking dude on the bus ride home yesterday, in his black cloak and stabby looking rings.

Other humorous/odd/interesting events of this morning:

My old apartment was flooded, destroying several items belonging to me, my ex, his mother, and his girlfriend. Not humorous, I know, but nonetheless interesting. My old place looks so sad without me; all wet and dirty.

A man on Plenty of Fish messaged me and told me that I look like a cop. I replied and said that while I'm not a policewoman, I am a Superhero, if that pulls his train at all. He messaged me back and called me a "sexy cop Superhero chick". Awesome.

I just might add here that I still hate PoF. I hate it more every day. But when I become bored, off I go to visit it. But, I am doing that less and less. Farmville is more entertaining a game to play. And that I can play and not feel like a whore. Also, with Farmville, no one threatens my life or recognizes me on the bus or any other type of BS.

I realized this morning that I have a lot of fun by myself in the wee hours of the morning, when I'm awake with the birds and no one else. Unlike when I first made my move across the country, my mind no longer races, I get enough sleep, and I'm not homesick.

So yeah, this morning I saw a Pirate.
